HILLSBORO — A New Hampshire man facing charges for possession and manufacturing of child sexual abuse images was arrested in Georgia after fleeing the state, authorities said Tuesday.

Maurice Morissette, 68, was initially arrested on Aug. 8 and released on conditions that he not leave New Hampshire.

However, Hillsboro police said Morissette left the state on Sept. 13, leading to the issuance of arrest warrants with nationwide extradition.

The Hillsboro Police Department, working in collaboration with the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, the New England State Police Information Network (NESPIN), and the Commonwealth Fusion Center, located Morissette.

He was captured by the Georgia State Patrol on Interstate 95 in Chatham County, Georgia, on Sept. 19.

Authorities said the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office will be responsible for transporting Morissette back to New Hampshire, where he is expected to face additional charges related to his flight from the state.
