BOW — Officers responded to a domestic dispute involving gunfire at a residence on Hooksett Turnpike on the evening of Sept. 22, where a woman and her two children safely evacuated the home, police said.

The Bow Police Department reported that they received the emergency call around 7:40 p.m. Upon their arrival, they found the front door open and a gunshot was heard as the family exited the residence.

Authorities were unsure if the suspect was still inside or had fled the scene, as a vehicle was left in the driveway.

A perimeter was established, and multiple law enforcement agencies, including the New Hampshire State Police, Hooksett, Hopkinton, Dunbarton, Concord, and Henniker Police Departments, the Merrimack County Sheriff’s Department, and the Bow Fire Department, assisted in the response.

The Central New Hampshire Special Operations Unit was also called to secure the residence.

A shelter-in-place order was issued for the surrounding neighborhood during the operation.

The Special Operations Unit later cleared the house, and the order was lifted.

The individual involved was found deceased in the residence with an apparent self-inflicted gunshot wound.

Authorities reopened the road around 11:30 p.m. and the mutual aid agencies left the scene.

Bow officers continued to investigate the incident, which has been deemed to pose no ongoing threat to public safety, according to Chief Ken Miller.

The investigation is ongoing.
