SPRINGFIELD — A local woman faces drug charges following a traffic stop last month that led to the discovery of crack cocaine and other narcotics in her backpack.

Springfield Police Department officers arrested Carrie Macie on charges of possession of crack cocaine and narcotics after a search warrant executed on Sept. 7 revealed the illegal substances.

The initial stop for a motor vehicle violation occurred on Pleasant Street near Valley Street on Aug. 31 at approximately 11:19 a.m., according to officials.

Macie, who was a passenger in the vehicle at the time of the stop, was known by authorities to be involved in narcotics use and sales in the area.

A subsequent investigation led to the seizure of her backpack, which was later searched under a judge-issued warrant.
