One dead after motorcycle crash in Groton

GROTON — A motorcycle accident late Friday night on Poquonnock Road has left a 55-year-old man dead, according to the City of Groton Police Department.

Authorities responded to the scene around 11:30 p.m. after receiving a report of a collision involving a motorcycle.

The City of Groton Fire Department and Groton Ambulance also arrived to offer assistance.

The rider, who has not been identified pending notification of next of kin, was found with severe injuries.

He was immediately transported to Lawrence & Memorial Hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The Regional Accident Reconstruction Team was called to the scene to aid in the investigation, with members from the City of Groton, Ledyard, Stonington, and the Town of Groton police departments participating.

As the investigation continues, Officer Jason Hauptman of the City of Groton Police urges anyone with information about the accident to come forward.

The police emphasize the importance of community collaboration in maintaining safety.
