MERRIMACK — A two-car collision on Bedford Road and Daniel Webster Highway led to the arrest of a Merrimack man on charges including operating under the influence and possession of a controlled drug with intent to sell, police said Thursday.
Thomas Bemis, 35, was taken into custody around 7:58 p.m. on Sept. 19 after officers responded to the crash scene involving injuries.
According to the Merrimack Police Department, signs of impairment were observed in Bemis during their interaction with him.
Field sobriety tests were conducted, which resulted in Bemis’ arrest for operating under the influence of liquor (OUIL).
Further investigation revealed a large quantity of a controlled drug near the vehicle Bemis was driving.
Bemis faces multiple charges, including a violation level offense for an open container, misdemeanor OUIL, and felony offenses for falsifying physical evidence and possession of a controlled drug with intent to sell.
After being processed at the Merrimack Police Department, Bemis was released on personal recognizance bail.
He is scheduled to appear in the 9th Circuit Merrimack District Court on Oct. 8 to respond to the allegations.
