HOULTON — After an investigation into the alleged dissemination of photographs involving students, the Houlton Police Department announced Thursday that no criminal activity or threats were found.

The probe began on Sept. 12 when Houlton Police, in cooperation with local school officials, looked into reports of photos being circulated among students and individuals in Southern Aroostook County.

Witnesses were interviewed, and evidence was reviewed, revealing the photographs originated from a private Google Photos account not shared on social media.

Authorities determined that the photos, which were taken from public social media platforms such as Facebook, were limited to a private account accessible by only two juveniles.

The investigation confirmed that there was no violent intent or implication, and no pornographic images were involved.

The photos shared by the two individuals also included unrelated images of pets, family, and friends.

Despite rumors, the photos were not categorized in any specific way and are not considered a threat to the public.

The Houlton Police Department assures there are no criminal violations and emphasizes the importance of refraining from speculation without factual backing.

Due to the involvement of minors, detailed information regarding the case remains confidential as per legal requirements.

The department has communicated with the District Attorney’s Office, and the results of the investigation will be reviewed by the Aroostook County District Attorney’s Office.

The Houlton Police Department requests that anyone with additional information contact them at 207-532-2287 to assist in ensuring the community’s safety.
