BRATTLEBORO — A traffic stop on Canal Street led to the arrest of a 45-year-old Brattleboro man on multiple charges, including possession of cocaine and driving with a criminally suspended license, authorities said.

John Mudge Jr. was pulled over by a Vermont State Police trooper at 2 p.m. Friday after the trooper spotted a vehicle violation.

Investigation revealed that Mudge was operating the vehicle with a suspended license, had breached court-ordered conditions of release, and was in possession of cocaine.

Mudge was taken to the Westminster Barracks for processing and then into custody by the Vermont Department of Corrections.

He was lodged at Southern State Correctional Facility pending his court appearance.

He is scheduled to appear in Vermont Superior Court Windham Criminal Division on Oct. 29 at 8:30 a.m.
