MANCHESTER — A man is in critical condition following a serious bicycle versus car accident on Main Street, according to the Manchester Police Department.

On Sept. 20, at approximately 2:12 p.m., police were dispatched to a report of trespassing at 2212 Main Street where a male was allegedly taking property unlawfully.

En route to the incident, authorities received multiple 911 calls about a collision involving a car and a bicycle near Main Street and Bank Run Road.

Upon arrival, first responders found Timothy J.

Green, born Oct. 20, 1993, unconscious with severe injuries.

Officers administered first aid until the Northshire Rescue Squad and Med Flight arrived.

Green was transported to a landing zone and airlifted to Albany Medical Center where he remains in critical condition.

The preliminary investigation indicates that Green entered the property at 2212 Main Street without authorization, allegedly stole items, and fled southbound on Main Street riding a bicycle.

Witnesses reported seeing him riding in the opposite lane of traffic before colliding head-on with a vehicle that had stopped in an attempt to avoid the crash.

The Manchester Police Department, assisted by the Bennington County Sheriff’s Office, Manchester Fire Department, Northshire Rescue Squad, and Liftnet Air Medical, continues to investigate the incident and urges any additional witnesses to provide information by calling 802-362-2121.
