PAWLET — Vermont State Police announced the arrest of a suspect on Friday in connection with the triple homicide that occurred in Pawlet last weekend.
Brian Crossman Jr., 23, of Granville, New York, is facing three counts of aggravated murder following the deaths of his father, Brian Crossman Sr., aged 46; his stepmother, Erica (Pawlusiak) Crossman, aged 41; and his 13-year-old stepbrother, Colin Taft.
Authorities discovered the victims early Sunday morning on Sept. 15 at their residence on Vermont Route 133.
Following the Vermont arrest warrant, New York State Police detained Crossman Jr.
He is currently held without bail and expected to appear before a judge in Glens Falls, New York, at 2:30 p.m. Friday.
The date for his extradition to Vermont and subsequent arraignment has not yet been determined.
Investigators gathered substantial evidence implicating Crossman Jr. in the slayings, including digital data, statements, and physical injuries.
Details of the evidence are documented in an affidavit of probable cause, which supports the arrest warrant, filed in Rutland’s Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court.
The investigation, led by Vermont State Police with assistance from Rutland County State’s Attorney Ian Sullivan, has been underway since the discovery of the crime.
The community has been acknowledged for its cooperation and patience during the investigation.
The Vermont State Police have stated that no further details are available at this time, and an update will be provided once Crossman Jr. has been arraigned in Vermont.
