South Hero man injured in collision with cyclist on US Route 2

SOUTH HERO — A motor vehicle crash involving a cyclist occurred on US Route 2 near Kibbe Point Road on Sept. 19 at approximately 2:11 p.m.

Alexander Burns, 34, of South Hero, was driving a 2007 Pontiac Torrent when he collided with a cyclist.

Burns, who was wearing a seatbelt, sustained minor injuries and was transported to the University of Vermont Medical Center for treatment.

The cyclist, identified as 71-year-old Allen Farney, suffered serious injuries and was also taken to the University of Vermont Medical Center.

The Vermont State Police, along with South Hero Rescue, the South Hero Fire Department, Grand Isle Rescue, the Grand Isle Fire Department, and the North Hero Fire Department, responded to the scene.

The Pontiac sustained front-end damage.

Authorities have launched an investigation into the crash.
