Rhode Island State Police make multiple arrests for drug offenses, reckless driving

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police have announced a series of arrests following traffic stops and warrant services in Providence and surrounding areas, resulting in various charges including drug offenses and reckless driving.

At 9:45 a.m., troopers apprehended Sareth Chea, 42, of Providence, on a Superior Court Full Bench Warrant for failing to appear for a restitution review related to a charge of obtaining property by false pretenses.

Chea was processed at the State Police – Lincoln Woods Barracks and then transported to Providence Superior Court.

Later that day, at 12:25 p.m., Antonia Picchione, 58, of Johnston, Rhode Island, was arrested for manufacturing, selling, or possessing with intent to manufacture or sell marijuana, within the weight range of one to five kilograms on a first offense, and conspiracy.

This arrest occurred after a vehicle stop on Dyer Street in Cranston.

Picchione was processed, arraigned, and released.

Simultaneously, Carl Halton, 53, of Swansea, Massachusetts, faced the same charges as Picchione, following the same traffic stop.

Halton was also processed, arraigned, and released.

At 11:17 p.m., Jennifer Rampino Sherman, 33, of Providence, was arrested for first-offense reckless driving after being stopped on Route 6 in Providence.

Sherman was processed and released with a notice to appear in Sixth Division District Court.

In the early hours, at 12:41 a.m., Jaime A. Torres, 32, of Providence, was arrested for possession of a controlled substance (Ecstasy) and driving after suspension of his license, marking his fourth or subsequent offense.

Torres was stopped on Plain Street in Providence, processed, arraigned, and released with a court appearance notice.

The most significant arrest came at 2:36 a.m., when Raymond J. Washington, 38, of Providence, was apprehended on Atwells Avenue following a vehicle stop.

Washington faces multiple charges including carrying a pistol without a permit, possession of a firearm by a prohibited person, possession and intent to deliver fentanyl and a Schedule I/II controlled substance, resisting arrest, and driving after license suspension, among others.

He was processed and held as a bail violator.
