Naugatuck father arrested for infant’s injuries

NAUGATUCK — A Naugatuck man has been arrested and charged in connection with injuries sustained by his four-month-old infant, police reported.

The Naugatuck Police Department announced that after an investigation prompted by the Connecticut Department of Children & Families, David Alexander, 31, was taken into custody on Sept. 18.

The investigation began when the department was notified of potential child abuse on Aug. 12.

Medical evaluations at Connecticut Children’s Medical Center revealed the infant had multiple unexplained injuries, including to the ribs, legs, and ear.

Following interviews with the parents, detectives obtained an arrest warrant for Alexander.

He faces charges of reckless endangerment in the first degree and risk of injury to a child.

Alexander was held on a $200,000 bond and arraigned at Waterbury Superior Court the following day.

The Naugatuck Police Department extended their gratitude for the cooperative effort among medical professionals, the Department of Children & Families, and law enforcement officers throughout the investigation.
