BRIDGEPORT — The Bridgeport Police Department’s Homicide Squad has made a significant breakthrough in a deadly daytime shooting case that occurred last year, leading to the arrest of 46-year-old Roshay Williams.

On Sept. 11, at approximately 5:45 p.m., 37-year-old Akeem Shoucair-Grant was shot multiple times in the 100 block of Spring Street.

Shoucair-Grant was quickly transported to a nearby hospital but succumbed to his injuries shortly after arrival.

Detective Tom Harper spearheaded the investigation, which resulted in securing an arrest warrant for Williams on charges of Murder and Criminal Possession of a Firearm.

Williams, a Bridgeport resident, surrendered to the Bridgeport Police Headquarters this morning and was taken into custody.

His bond has been set at $1.5 million, and Williams is scheduled for arraignment later today at the Bridgeport Superior Court.

The Office of the State’s Attorney – Bridgeport Judicial District continues its close collaboration with the Bridgeport Police Department, providing legal support and ensuring the diligent prosecution of criminal cases.

This partnership is credited with contributing to the high clearance rate for homicides in the area and the conviction of violent offenders.
