SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police Officers arrested a 39-year-old man and seized a ghost gun following a disturbance at an apartment on Sunday evening.

At around 4:50 p.m., police responded to a report of a disturbance on the 0-100 block of Spring Street where a victim and a child were allegedly assaulted.

The suspect, identified as Angel Vazquez, was believed to be armed.

Despite Vazquez’s initial refusal to open the apartment door, officers obtained information confirming he had a firearm.

After approximately fifteen minutes of negotiation, Vazquez opened the door, revealing a gun on the couch within his reach.

As he attempted to close the door, officers entered and secured the loaded ghost gun, which had a 12-round capacity.

Vazquez now faces multiple charges, including possession of a firearm and ammunition without an FID card, possession of a high-capacity magazine/feeding device, resisting arrest, assault & battery, and assault & battery on a child with injury.
