RICHMOND — Rhode Island State Police detained two individuals on Wednesday after distinct traffic stops on Route 95, leading to arrests for outstanding warrants and forgery charges.

At approximately 3 p.m., troopers pulled over a vehicle and arrested Jose Luis Garcia, 42, of Providence, Rhode Island.

Garcia faced an affidavit arrest warrant from the Providence Police Department dating back to April 10, 2014, for domestic simple assault and a bench warrant for failing to appear for an arraignment on Sept. 5, 2008, on a charge of domestic disorderly conduct.

After being transported to the Hope Valley Barracks, he was processed, arraigned by a Justice of the Peace, and released with a future court date.

Later that day, at 5:31 p.m., Hugo Garcia Ramirez, 37, of West Haven, Connecticut, was stopped and arrested for forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates.
