PAXTON — A suspect accused of breaking and entering the Paxton Council on Aging and Historical Commission has been arrested, and most of the stolen items have been recovered, police said.
On Aug. 28, Paxton Police Department officers responded to a reported break-in at the facility located at 17 West Street.
The crime scene was meticulously processed, yielding evidence that included broken glass and a damaged window screen.
In the days following the incident, Paxton detectives continued their analysis of the evidence, which led to the discovery of latent fingerprints.
The prints were sent to the Worcester Police Latent Print Unit for further examination.
On Sept. 18, the Paxton detectives received information from the Worcester Police that the fingerprints belonged to Paxton resident Rowan Wallace.
An arrest warrant was issued for Wallace, who was apprehended by Paxton officers shortly after.
Subsequently, a search warrant was executed at Wallace’s residence, where with his cooperation, authorities recovered the majority of the items reported missing.
Wallace is scheduled to be arraigned today, Sept. 19, at Western Worcester District Court.
He faces multiple charges including Breaking and Entering in the Nighttime, Larceny from a Building, and two counts of Wanton Destruction of Property, differentiated by the value of damage incurred.
