1 min read

NORWALK — The Norwalk Police Department is actively investigating the origins of a cyber threat targeting schools, which was reported early today and widely circulated on social media.

Despite the spread of the message, authorities have found no evidence suggesting the threat is credible.

According to officials, the incident seems to be part of a larger pattern of unfounded cyber threats affecting schools nationwide.

As a precautionary measure, the department has increased security patrols around the city’s schools, complementing the efforts of the already assigned School Resource Officers.

The Norwalk Police Department assures the community that they are dedicated to maintaining safety within the Norwalk Public Schools (NPS) and urges anyone with information that might warrant investigation to come forward.

Residents can report tips to the Norwalk Police Tip Line at 203-854-3111.
