Increased police presence at Fairfield schools after threat probe

1 min read

FAIRFIELD — In the wake of an investigation into a social media threat, the Fairfield Police Department has amped up security at local schools to ensure student and staff safety.

The threat, which emerged late last night, was a repost from a neighboring community where an arrest has already been made.

Upon learning of the reposted threat, Fairfield officers collaborated with other law enforcement agencies overnight and found no direct or credible threat to Fairfield schools.

Despite the lack of immediate danger, the Fairfield Public Schools community was alerted, and a district statement was issued earlier today to alleviate concerns.

For added security, Fairfield has stationed more officers at all its schools today.

The police department maintains a strong relationship with the town’s educational institutions, taking any threats seriously and investigating them with the assistance of local, state, and federal law enforcement.

Community members are commended for their vigilance in reporting threats but are advised against sharing such threats on social media to prevent unnecessary fear.

The department emphasizes the importance of a unified effort in staying informed without circulating unverified information.

The Fairfield Police Department understands the community’s anxiety and has taken extensive measures to protect everyone involved.

For emergencies, residents are urged to call 911, while non-emergency concerns can be reported to 203-254-4800.
