NAUGATUCK — A 39-year-old Naugatuck man was given a suspended one-year sentence on Sept. 9 for animal cruelty charges related to his failure to care for dogs that were left to roam and sustain injuries on his property.
Michael Kostenko, arrested on Dec. 18, received a suspended sentence and two years of probation.
He was also ordered to reimburse Naugatuck Animal Control for the veterinary expenses incurred for his dog’s treatment.
The arrest stemmed from an incident where dogs were found abandoned and roaming a property with hazardous conditions, leading to their injury.
The Naugatuck Police Department and Naugatuck Animal Control have emphasized their commitment to taking crimes against animals seriously.
