Boston police arrest man in downtown bank robbery

BOSTON — Boston Police Department officers apprehended a suspect in connection with a downtown bank robbery on Tuesday afternoon.

At about 12:11 p.m., on Tuesday, officers assigned to District A-1 (Downtown) responded to a robbery in progress at a bank on 33 State St. Employees reported that a man had entered the bank and committed a robbery, fleeing on foot with an undisclosed amount of money.

Following a search of the area, officers located the suspect, identified as 62-year-old Neal Bain of Boston, inside the Boston Commons.

After conducting an investigation, officers arrested Bain without incident.

Bain, who also had an active warrant for shoplifting, is expected to be arraigned in Boston Municipal Court on charges of unarmed robbery and shoplifting by asportation.
