Police seek information on armed incident in Derby

DERBY — Vermont State Police are investigating an incident where an unknown male allegedly brandished and pointed a handgun at another person earlier this month.

The incident took place on September 6, at approximately 4:25 p.m. on US Route 5 in Derby. According to police reports, the suspect pointed the firearm in a threatening manner before leaving the scene in an unknown direction.

Authorities describe the suspect as a Caucasian male in his 20s, with a thin frame and dirty blonde hair. He is estimated to be between 5’6″ and 5’8″ tall and was noted to have facial acne. The suspect reportedly left the scene in a red Nissan Rogue with New Hampshire license plates.

State Police have released a photo today of an unidentified female witness to the event. While she is not wanted for any crimes, investigators consider her a key witness and are seeking to identify her. Police later confirmed she was identified.
