Boston man arrested with firearm, drugs after police chase in Dorchester

BOSTON — A Boston man was arrested on firearm and drug charges Sunday night after a foot chase in Dorchester, according to police.

At about 9:31 p.m., on Sunday, officers from District C-11 responded to a call about an armed person near 505 Geneva Avenue.

Boston Police Operations provided a description of the suspect, later identified as Jakeem Hanson, 30.

Upon arrival, Hanson fled on foot, prompting a pursuit.

During the chase, officers observed him with a gun and making a throwing motion.

Hanson was apprehended near Bournside Street and Paisley Park where police conducted a search, discovering seventeen small bags of crack cocaine.

Additionally, officers retrieved a Taurus PT 22 pistol with one round in the chamber and seven in the magazine from the area where Hanson was seen discarding an object.

Hanson faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm, a loaded firearm, ammunition, resisting arrest, and intent to distribute Class B drugs.

He also had four active arrest warrants.

His arraignment is set for Dorchester District Court.
