Vermont State Police probe Pawlet suspicious deaths

PAWLET — The Vermont State Police launched an investigation into suspicious deaths in the Rutland County town of Pawlet after an early morning call on Sept. 15 reported a suspicious person.

Upon arrival at a residence on Vermont Route 133, troopers discovered the deceased individuals.

The investigation is currently in its initial stages and is being carried out by the Vermont State Police Major Crime Unit, Bureau of Criminal Investigations, Crime Scene Search Team, Field Force Division, and Victim Services Unit.

After the Crime Scene Search Team processes the scene, the bodies will be transported to the Chief Medical Examiner’s Office in Burlington for autopsies to ascertain the cause and manner of death.

Authorities will release the victims’ names once identities are confirmed and next of kin have been notified.

Detectives believe this to be an isolated incident, with no ongoing threat to the community identified at this time.
