Man faces multiple charges after DUI crash in Townshend

TOWNSHEND — A single-vehicle crash late Saturday night led to the arrest of Elijah Emerson, 33, of Jamacia, on multiple charges including DUI and providing false information to police.

Vermont State Police responded to the incident on Athens Rd, commonly known as Vermont Route 35, at 10:14 p.m. Upon arrival, officers identified the driver as Emerson, who had crashed his vehicle.

Investigations revealed that Emerson was driving under the influence of alcohol, operating with a criminally suspended license, and he violated conditions of his release.

During the interaction with the authorities, Emerson also provided false information to the police.

Emerson sustained injuries in the crash and was transported to Grace Cottage Hospital for treatment.

After receiving medical attention, he was issued a criminal citation.

Elijah Emerson is scheduled to appear at the Vermont Superior Court, Windham Criminal Division, on Nov. 26 at 8:30 a.m. to face his charges.
