Bridgeport traffic stop leads to firearm and outstanding warrant arrests

BRIDGEPORT — A routine traffic stop for an equipment violation on Sept. 13 led to the arrest of two individuals on multiple charges, including possession of a stolen firearm.

Bridgeport Police officers conducted the vehicle stop at the intersection of Howard Avenue and Fairfield Avenue.

During the investigation, it was discovered that the driver, Sasha Garcia, born July 7, 1990, had an active warrant from Montville.

Garcia was detained and is awaiting transfer to Montville authorities.

The front seat passenger, Tavon Holman, born Dec. 30, 1989, was found to have outstanding warrants from both Montville and Bridgeport.

A subsequent search revealed Holman in possession of a stolen firearm.

Records show that Holman, a convicted felon, had previous convictions for stealing a firearm and carrying weapons in a motor vehicle.

Holman faces charges including stealing a firearm, criminal possession of a pistol, carrying a pistol without a permit, and illegal possession of a weapon in a motor vehicle.

His bond was set at $100,000.

Additionally, he received an infraction for failure to wear a seat belt and faces charges under the Bridgeport warrant for violation of the Deadly Weapons Registry, with a bond set at $5,000.

Sergeant Fabio W. Pereira confirmed the details of the incident.
