St. Johnsbury man arrested for cocaine possession

ST. JOHNSBURY — A local man was arrested Wednesday afternoon on charges of cocaine possession, according to the St. Johnsbury Police Department.

Officers responded to a report of drug activity at 789 Railroad Street at 3:30 p.m., where they encountered 44-year-old Jonathan Russell.

During the interaction, Russell consented to a search which revealed approximately 4.7 grams of crack cocaine in his pocket.

Russell was taken into custody and processed at the police department.

He was released on a citation and is scheduled for arraignment on Oct. 7 at 8:30 a.m. at the Caledonia Superior Court.

Authorities confirmed court action is expected, and a mug shot has been taken, but no bail was set as Russell was not lodged.
