HILLSBORO — A 32-year-old man who led police on a chase that ended with his vehicle in a swamp was apprehended after a 24-hour manhunt involving multiple law enforcement agencies and tips from the public.
Tae Potwin fled from Hillsboro police on Sept. 12, initiating a pursuit during which he rammed an Antrim Police cruiser, causing damage.
After crashing into a swamp, Potwin tried to escape by swimming into the Emerald Lake area but was pursued by officers.
The Hillsboro Police Department, in a news release, credited the arrest to a collective effort among local, county, and federal agencies, including the U.S.
Marshals Service, K-9 units, the New Hampshire State Police Aviation Unit, and officers from various police departments.
The collaborative operation was supported by valuable public tips that came in response to information released by the authorities.
The agencies involved in the successful capture were the U.S. Marshals Service, Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office, Merrimack County Sheriff’s Office, Rockingham County Sheriff’s Office, Strafford County Sheriff’s Office, Cheshire County Sheriff’s Office, New Hampshire State Police, Antrim Police, Henniker Police, Deering Police, Hopkinton Police, Newbury Police, Pembroke Police, Greenfield Police, Peterborough Police, Hillsboro Fire & EMS, and communication centers across local, county, and state levels.
The Hillsboro Police Department expressed gratitude for the public’s assistance and the contributions from all the communication centers, agencies, and officers that played a role in the operation, highlighting the importance of community involvement and inter-agency cooperation in ensuring public safety.
