As he approached Ten Mile Square Road, Ovitt found the bridge had been destroyed by recent rainstorms.

In an attempt to avoid a collision with the bridge’s remnants, Ovitt exited the vehicle, which then struck a nearby tree and rolled over, partially trapping him underneath.

A passing good Samaritan witnessed the accident and managed to extract Ovitt from beneath the vehicle before emergency services arrived.
