Webster man arrested after multiple crashes, police pursuit

WEBSTER — A Millbury man faces multiple charges after leading police on a high-speed chase that ended in two crashes early Tuesday morning.

Joshua Perry, 43, of Main Street, Millbury, was arrested following a pursuit that began around 1 a.m. when Officer Stephens observed a Ford Mustang with West Virginia plates traveling 50 mph in a 25 mph zone on Lake Street.

According to police, Perry attempted to evade officers by making sudden turns and accelerating through stop signs.

The chase ended when Perry crashed into a guardrail on the I-395 northbound on-ramp.

Perry was taken into custody after initially not complying with officers’ commands.

Police said they observed signs that Perry was under the influence of alcohol.

Emergency medical services transported Perry to UMass Memorial Medical Center – Webster for treatment of minor injuries.

He was later released into police custody.

Perry faces charges including operating under the influence of liquor, negligent operation of a motor vehicle, failure to stop for police, speeding, leaving the scene of an accident, marked lanes violation and failure to stop.

Bail was set at $500, and Perry was arraigned at Dudley District Court on Tuesday morning.
