NAUGATUCK — A local man arrested last year for alleged crimes against a child now faces additional charges following further investigation, police said Thursday.

William L. Gordon, 45, of Naugatuck, surrendered to police on Sept. 12 after detectives obtained an arrest warrant charging him with promoting a minor in obscene performance and possession of child pornography.

The new charges stem from evidence found during searches of Gordon’s residence and phone, conducted after his initial arrest on Oct. 14, 2023, according to the Naugatuck Police Department.

In the original incident, police responded to allegations that Gordon had engaged in an inappropriate act with a 10-year-old victim.

He was charged at that time with intentional cruelty to persons and risk of injury to a child.

Gordon is being held on a $200,000 bond set by the court.

He was transported to Waterbury Superior Court for arraignment.

The investigation is ongoing, police said.
