WEST RUTLAND — Vermont State Police arrested a 23-year-old man Friday on charges of domestic assault, unlawful restraint and interference with access to emergency services.
Joshua Alger of West Rutland was taken into custody at approximately 7:46 a.m. after troopers responded to a report of a family fight on Clarendon Avenue.
Investigators determined Alger had caused bodily injury to a family or household member, physically restrained the person and prevented them from contacting emergency services.
The victim, also 23, was not identified by police, as is standard practice in cases of domestic violence.
Alger was processed at the Rutland Barracks and later transported to Vermont Superior Court, Rutland Criminal Division, to face the charges.
The incident remains under investigation by the Vermont State Police.
