Worcester man faces drug trafficking charges after park arrest

WORCESTER — Worcester Police officers arrested a man for trafficking fentanyl and other drug-related charges after a routine check at Castle Park early on Sept. 11.

At about 1:15 a.m., officers encountered three individuals at the park, which is closed from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m., and found them in violation of posted “no trespassing” signs.

Upon interaction, officers noticed a folding knife protruding from the pocket of Taino Reyes, 48, of Worcester.

A subsequent search revealed Reyes was in possession of 12 small bags of crack cocaine, a small bag of heroin, additional crack cocaine, and 19 grams of fentanyl contained in his fanny pack.

Reyes was arrested and faces charges including Possession to Distribute a Class B Drug, Trafficking More Than 10 Grams of Fentanyl, Possession of a Class A Substance, and Trespassing.

The other two individuals present with Reyes were issued summonses to appear in court on trespassing charges.
