WESTBROOK — A disturbance at a Main Street business yesterday morning led to the arrest of a Westbrook man after he attacked a store clerk and a customer.
Westbrook Police received a 911 call around 8:15 a.m. reporting the assault.
Upon arrival, officers found that a customer had subdued the suspect by pinning him to the ground.
Police took control of the situation, detaining the suspect.
The investigation revealed that the assailant, identified as 32-year-old Jonathan Carey of Westbrook, had been previously asked to leave the store but returned.
When asked to leave again, he became violent, assaulting the clerk.
A customer stepped in to defend the clerk and was also attacked by Carey.
Carey was arrested and charged with Assault, Terrorizing, and Disorderly Conduct.
He was taken to the Cumberland County Jail, where he was booked on these charges.
Both the clerk and the customer sustained injuries during the altercation but declined ambulance transport to the hospital.
