Troopers make multiple arrests in Providence following incidents

PROVIDENCE — Multiple arrests were made by the Rhode Island State Police on Monday, following separate incidents, including a motor vehicle accident, a self-surrender, and responses to disturbances.

At 8:16 a.m., Troopers took Yeison Montoya Pinto, a 22-year-old East Hartford, Connecticut resident, into custody on charges of forgery and counterfeiting of registration plates, and possession of a controlled substance (cocaine).

The arrest followed an investigation into a vehicle accident on Route 6.

Later in the morning, at 11:16 a.m., Aaliyah Rodriguez, also 22, from Central Falls, Rhode Island, was arrested on a warrant for possession of a controlled substance (marijuana) after turning herself in at the Lincoln Woods Barracks.

The warrant stemmed from a Rhode Island State Police Traffic Safety Unit investigation.

The afternoon saw the arrest of 25-year-old Jose Santiago of Providence, Rhode Island, at 3:34 p.m. for disorderly conduct and obstructing a police officer during a traffic stop on Chalkstone Avenue.

At 8:36 p.m., Nayah Brookes, 31, from Central Falls, was arrested and charged with resisting arrest, disorderly conduct, and willful trespass after state troopers were called to Lincoln Woods State Park to assist park rangers.

The final arrest for the day occurred at 11:30 p.m. when Carl Sears, a 31-year-old Providence resident, was detained on a warrant for domestic assault, vandalism, and disorderly conduct.

The arrest was a result of a vehicle stop on Charles Street and Sears was later transferred to the Pawtucket Police Department.

All individuals were processed at the Lincoln Woods Barracks and arraigned in district courts.
