Suspect arrested in Poland home invasion, second at large

POLAND — A home invasion in Poland leads to one arrest while the second suspect remains at large after an incident that occurred last night.

At approximately 9:26 p.m., deputies from the Androscoggin County Sheriff’s Office, alongside an officer from the Mechanic Falls Police Department, responded to a disturbance call on Evergreen Dr.

An adult male homeowner reported being awoken by a loud noise and encountering two individuals, one inside manipulating a safe and another outside his residence, both dressed in black and wearing ski masks.

The suspect inside the home pointed a handgun at the homeowner before the victim could flee and seek assistance from a neighbor.

Corporal Vic Barr with K9 Sampson and Cumberland County K9 Deputy Christian Stickney with his K9 Teemo conducted a search resulting in the capture of one suspect, Justin Scott Martin, 31, of transient status, originally from Florida.

A handgun wrapped in a ski mask, which had been reported stolen, was recovered near the location of Martin’s arrest.

Martin faces multiple charges, including Class A Burglary and Robbery, Class B Theft by Receiving Stolen Property, Class C Possession of Firearm by Prohibited Person, Criminal Threatening with a Dangerous Weapon, and Class D Criminal Mischief.

He was booked into the Androscoggin County Jail with bail set at $10,000, subject to conditions.

The second suspect who fled the scene has not been identified.
