Springfield police arrest 18-year-old, seize loaded firearm

SPRINGFIELD — Springfield Police Department officers arrested 18-year-old Charlie Acevedo and seized a loaded firearm after responding to a gun call on Monday, Sept. 9 at around 7:30 p.m., authorities said.

The SPD C3 Unit, working with Squad “C” Officers, were dispatched to the 100 block of Maple Street following reports of an individual with a gun near a convenience store.

Upon arrival, officers located Acevedo and recovered the weapon.

Acevedo, a Springfield resident, was taken into custody without incident.

He is facing charges of carrying a firearm without a license and carrying a loaded firearm without a license.

The Springfield Police Department continues to investigate the incident.
