LEWISTON — A Lewiston police officer reported hearing active gunfire in the rear of 66 Knox St. just before 4 p.m. this afternoon while on patrol.
The officer was confronted by several armed suspects and an injured male who had been struck by the gunfire.
The suspects fled the scene but were later detained by an off-duty officer in the vicinity.
The injured man was transported to Central Maine Medical Center and is reported to be in stable condition.
The Lewiston Police Department has confirmed that the investigation is ongoing, and they are urging anyone with information to come forward.
