Exeter cyclist injured after collision with SUV

EXETER — A bicyclist was injured this morning after being struck by a vehicle at the intersection of Front and Winter Streets.

The crash occurred at approximately 7:30 a.m. when a male cyclist, traveling outbound with the flow of traffic along Front Street, was hit by an inbound Nissan Rogue.

The SUV was turning left onto Winter Street and failed to yield to the bicyclist, according to Exeter police and fire officials who responded to the scene.

The bicyclist, who was wearing a helmet, was transported by ambulance to the trauma center at Portsmouth Regional Hospital.

Details regarding the severity of his injuries were not immediately available.

The driver of the Nissan Rogue was not injured in the incident but was cited for failing to yield to the cyclist.

Investigations into the crash are ongoing.
