BPD makes arrest in Dorchester murder case

BOSTON — Members of the Boston Police Fugitive Unit arrested 18-year-old Manuel Guerrero on Monday, Sept. 9, in connection with a fatal shooting that occurred in Dorchester last month.

At approximately 12:06 p.m., Guerrero was taken into custody on Dorchester Ave.

He faces charges of murder, home invasion, carrying a firearm without a license, and assault to murder firearm-armed, following an outstanding arrest warrant.

Guerrero is expected to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.

The incident in question took place on Aug. 12, around 6:42 p.m., when officers from District C-11 were called to 5 Trent St. regarding a shooting.

Upon arrival, they found two adult males with gunshot wounds.

Both were transported to a local hospital, where one victim, Leudis Mejia Sanchez, 49, was pronounced dead.

The second victim received treatment for non-life-threatening injuries.
