BOSTON — A Boston man was arrested Monday night on multiple firearm-related charges following a shot spotter activation and reports of gunfire in Dorchester, according to the Boston Police Department.
At approximately 7:53 p.m., on Monday, officers from District C-11 (Dorchester) responded to the 1700 block of Dorchester Avenue after the shot spotter system, coupled with several 911 calls, alerted them to shots being fired in the area.
The suspect, identified as 53-year-old Tuan Trieu of Boston, allegedly fired multiple shots at a victim before stowing the gun in the back of his pants.
The officers, receiving a description of the suspect and the direction of the fleeing vehicle, spotted the car speeding along Dorchester Avenue.
They engaged their cruiser’s emergency lights and sirens to stop the vehicle.
Upon making contact with Trieu, officers requested he exit the vehicle.
He was subsequently placed under arrest and taken to District C-11 for booking.
A search along the suspect’s escape route led to the discovery of a discarded firearm, later identified as a “Ghost Gun” with a high-capacity magazine containing seventeen rounds.
Additional ballistic evidence was collected at the scene of the shooting.
Trieu faces charges including Unlawful Possession of a Firearm 3rd Offense, Two Counts of Assault to Murder, Discharging a Firearm within 500 Feet of a Building, Unlawful Possession of a Large Capacity Feeding Device, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Assault and Battery with a Dangerous Weapon, and Unlicensed Operation of a Motor Vehicle.
He is set to be arraigned in Dorchester District Court.
