Labounty, who was unharmed, sought refuge at the Derby Barracks and recounted the events to troopers.

The confrontation between Labounty and Bouchard, who had recently become acquainted, escalated into a verbal altercation at Bouchard’s home.

As Labounty left the scene in his vehicle, Bouchard is alleged to have shot at him multiple times, hitting the vehicle in various places.

Later that morning, state police executed a search warrant at Bouchard’s property, where they collected evidence linked to the shooting.

Bouchard was taken into custody without incident and transported to the state police barracks in Derby for processing.

Bouchard is being held without bail at the Northern State Correctional Facility in Newport and faces charges including attempted murder, aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, reckless endangerment, and criminal threatening.

She is expected to be arraigned today at the Criminal Division of Vermont Superior Court in Newport.

Vermont State Police have indicated that this appears to be an isolated event, and there is no ongoing risk to the general public.

Further information regarding the case will be disclosed after Bouchard’s arraignment when the affidavit of probable cause is filed with the court.
