FAIR HAVEN — A Connecticut woman was arrested following an investigation into a stolen vehicle that occurred last month, local authorities said.

Ashlyn Y. Gates, 33, of Manchester, was taken into custody on Sept. 8 by Fair Haven Police Department after a motor vehicle reported stolen on Aug. 22 was recovered in Brattleboro.

At approximately 11:12 a.m. on Aug. 22, police responded to a call on West Street where a vehicle had been reported stolen.

The subsequent investigation revealed that Gates had allegedly taken the car without the owner’s consent and driven it to Brattleboro.

Brattleboro Police Department located and recovered the vehicle, and later assisted in apprehending Gates on behalf of Fair Haven Police.

Gates was arrested and issued a citation to appear in Rutland District Court to respond to the charge of operating without the owner’s consent.

Chief William Humphries of the Brattleboro Police Department led the investigation that resulted in Gates’ arrest.

The cooperation between the two departments was crucial in resolving the case.
