Pregnant pit bull stolen from New Haven neighborhood

NEW HAVEN — A pregnant pit bull was reportedly stolen from the 280 block of Quinnipiac Ave. in New Haven, prompting a plea for public assistance in the dog’s recovery.

According to local sources, the dog was taken by a female suspect dressed entirely in black.

Witnesses observed the suspect watching and waiting on foot before rushing to a car, pulling up alongside the dog, and snatching it.

The New Haven community is on alert, and a video capturing the theft is expected to be released soon to aid in identifying the culprit.

The owners of the stolen pit bull are urging the suspect to return the dog or to drop her off at the nearest animal shelter or Animal Control office, hoping for a safe resolution to the situation.

The New Haven Police Department is investigating the incident and asks that anyone with information regarding the vehicle or the suspect contact them immediately to assist in the safe return of the expectant canine.
