WOODSTOCK — A Windsor County man was arrested for his third DUI, along with charges of negligent operation and speeding, after being caught traveling nearly double the speed limit in Cavendish.

The Windsor County Sheriff’s Department reported that on Sept. 6, at about 3:50 p.m., Lt. Thomas Battista was patrolling the area when he spotted a white Nissan Xterra speeding at 94 mph in a 50 mph zone on Cavendish route 103, specifically the Cavendish Gulf area.

Following the traffic stop on Greven Rd Extension, 38-year-old Nelson Kendall of Baltimore was taken into custody.

According to the sheriff’s office, Kendall faces multiple charges and received a speeding ticket in excess of $600.

The patrol was part of a Governor’s Highway Safety Program Grant-funded operation, intended to increase road safety and administered by the Agency of Transportation Vermont State Highway Safety Office.

Kendall is scheduled to appear in Windsor District Court in White River Junction to face the charges.
