BOSTON — A routine traffic stop in Roxbury early Saturday morning resulted in the arrest of a South End woman for various firearm-related offenses.

At about 3:20 a.m., on Saturday, officers from the Boston Police Department’s District B-2 patrolling the 1500 block of Columbus Ave. noticed a vehicle with an expired registration.

After initiating the stop with emergency lights and sirens, the officers identified the driver as 25-year-old Crystal Oviedo.

Upon checking her credentials, it was revealed that Oviedo’s license was suspended, and she was illegally operating the vehicle.

A subsequent search of the car led to the discovery of a Taurus Millennium Pt111 G2 9mm semi-automatic firearm underneath the passenger seat.

The firearm contained 8 rounds in a magazine and one in the chamber and had an obliterated serial number.

Oviedo was taken into custody and is slated to face arraignment in Roxbury District Court.

The charges include Carrying a Firearm Without a License, Carrying a Loaded Firearm Without a License, Unlawful Possession of Ammunition, Operating a Motor Vehicle with a Suspended License, and Operating an Unregistered Motor Vehicle on a Public Way.

District B-2 Detectives are continuing their investigation into the incident.
