Woman arrested for DUI, resisting arrest in Bradford

BRADFORD — A South Royalton woman faces multiple charges after refusing to exit her vehicle and identify herself to state troopers during a traffic stop Wednesday evening.

Melanie Mazzarella, 46, was arrested for driving under the influence, resisting arrest and impeding an officer around 7:17 p.m. on Lower Plain in Bradford, according to Vermont State Police.

Troopers from the St. Johnsbury Barracks observed a suspicious vehicle while on patrol.

Upon approaching the car, they reported that Mazzarella showed signs of impairment.

When informed she was under arrest, Mazzarella refused to exit her vehicle, police said.

Troopers had to escort her out of the car.

She also declined to identify herself at the scene.

Mazzarella was taken to the Bradford State Police Outpost for processing.

She was released with a citation to appear in Orange County Criminal Court at 8:30 a.m. on Sept. 18 to answer to the charges.
