BOSTON — Boston police arrested an 18-year-old woman on firearm charges Wednesday night following a shot spotter activation and brief vehicle pursuit.

At 9:59 p.m., officers responded to 41 Walnut Park after a shot spotter detected gunfire.

They observed a vehicle speeding away and running a red light at Townsend Street and Walnut Avenue.

Police attempted to stop the vehicle, but it fled.

Officers later located it near Columbia Road and stopped it with assistance from Massachusetts State Police before the Interstate 93 South exit.

The driver, Princess Garcia of Lynn, was arrested after officers found a .380 caliber handgun with an obliterated serial number and six rounds of ammunition during a pat frisk, police said.

Garcia faces charges including unlawful possession of a firearm and ammunition, defacing a firearm serial number, leaving the scene of property damage, reckless driving, and failure to stop for police.

She is expected to be arraigned in Roxbury District Court.

Two other occupants of the vehicle were also detained but not charged.
