SPRINGFIELD — Police arrested three suspects and seized multiple firearms, drugs and manufacturing equipment in a raid Wednesday afternoon, authorities said.

Members of the Springfield Police Firearms Investigation Unit (FIU) and Hampden County Sheriff’s Department executed a search warrant on the 0-100 block of Willard Avenue at approximately 3:30 p.m. Sept. 4.

Officers recovered four firearms, including a ghost gun and two machine guns, along with a 3D printer allegedly used to manufacture firearm parts.

They also seized nearly 20 grams of heroin, 53 grams of cocaine, 40.7 grams of crack cocaine and $1,192 in cash.

John-Paul Vargas, 30, and Ruth Espinal, 29, both of Springfield, face multiple charges including drug trafficking, possession of machine guns and improper firearm storage.

Jason Redcloud, 51, was charged with possession of a Class B drug.

Vargas was wearing an electronic monitoring ankle bracelet at the time of arrest, as he was out on bail for previous charges including stalking and heroin trafficking.

The investigation began when FIU detectives observed Vargas leave his home and conduct what appeared to be a drug transaction in a parking lot on Boston Road.

Officers arrested Redcloud after the alleged deal and later apprehended Vargas at a nearby gas station.

Police said they found crack cocaine, cocaine and heroin in Vargas’ vehicle before obtaining the search warrant for his residence.
