Rhode Island state police make multiple arrests in one day

PROVIDENCE — Rhode Island State Police made several arrests on Sept. 4, 2024, for charges ranging from drug possession to domestic violence.

The ACI Investigations Unit charged five individuals with various offenses, including violation of no-contact orders and assault on a correctional officer.

All were arraigned in Third District Court and released to sheriff’s custody.

Members of the HIDTA Task Force and DEA Providence District Office arrested two Woonsocket residents on drug charges.

Janette Baez Rodriguez, 41, was charged with intent to deliver fentanyl, while Omar Baez, 43, faced possession charges for fentanyl and cocaine.

In a separate case, Kyle Deruisseau, 25, of Providence, was arrested on multiple drug and weapons charges.

He was ordered held without bail after arraignment in Sixth District Court.

The Violent Fugitive Task Force apprehended Joao Gomes, 50, of Pawtucket, wanted in Massachusetts on multiple counts of rape and other charges.

Other arrests included a Newport woman for cyberstalking, a Fall River, Massachusetts, man for domestic felony assault, and a Greenfield, Massachusetts, woman for insurance fraud.
