SOUTHAMPTON — A card skimming device was recovered at the Cumberland Farms convenience store in Southampton, authorities said today.
The illegal device was found attached to the left register, known as Register 2, inside the store.
The discovery was made possible through the diligent efforts of the store’s staff, according to the Southampton Police Department.
While Register 2 was compromised, police confirmed that the other register and all fuel pumps at the location appeared to be unaffected by tampering.
The police department is advising anyone who recently used the affected register at Cumberland Farms to monitor their bank accounts for any discrepancies.
Customers who notice irregularities are urged to contact the Southampton Police Department immediately.
This incident is not isolated, as other area Cumberland Farms stores have also reported finding skimmers.
The Southampton Police Department is reminding the community to stay vigilant and report any suspicious activity.
